Good news for Italy visa applicants

The Italian Embassy has announced the formation of a task force to reduce the harassment and suffering of visa aspirants and speed up the visa process.

The Embassy of Italy in Dhaka informed this information in a press release on Monday (September 9).

In this, the Italian Embassy said, in view of the demands of the visa applicants, the Deputy Head of Mission of the Embassy held a meeting with some representatives of the applicants on Monday. During the meeting, the Embassy explained the legal, technical and logistical reasons for the existing delays in processing work visas in Italy. The meeting assured the Embassy of its commitment to increase the output of processed applications and presented some of the initiatives undertaken with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Rome, including the formation of a dedicated task force.

VFS Global or any of their employees are not involved in visa processing, the embassy said in a press release. VFS Global works on behalf of and under strict instructions from the Embassy of Italy in Dhaka and other locations around the world without taking part in any decision regarding visa approval or rejection or its timing and scheduling appointments for visa application filing. Appointments are made by the Embassy after proper checks and controls on the information submitted by the applicants without any involvement of VFS Global or its staff. Issuing visas falls under the exclusive power of the state.

It further states, therefore, that all decisions regarding the release or denial of Italian work visas to Bangladeshi nationals, as well as their timing, procedures, controls and deadlines, are governed exclusively by Italian law. Complaints and appeals against Embassy decisions may be presented to the appropriate authorities in Italy in accordance with applicable Italian laws and regulations.

Earlier, a protest program was held in Bangladesh on Monday morning to ease the visa process.
